MEEM 4900/4900D Senior design

Guidelines

To be acceptable for MEEM 4900/4900D, your project must contain the following elements:

  1. Design: There must be sufficient leeway to allow your team to brainstorm and make selections from at least three creative solutions. The project must not be over-constrained.
  2. Analysis: The project must require use of the engineering tools (e.g., CAD, FEM, DFM, mechanics, materials) learned in prior courses.

  3. Optimization: The design must be optimized as far as practical.

  4. Verification: A prototype or proof-of-concept to demonstrate workability must be developed. Under certain conditions a simulation may be used, but virtual designs without verification will not be acceptable.

  5. Source identification/diagnosis/troubleshooting?: No! A project that requires a significant amount of preliminary testing and diagnosis to determine the root of the problem will delay the design process and will not fit within the time constraints of this course.
