A word on topics: Select a topic related to your discipline. You might introduce students to your area of research interest or you might prepare a lesson that is similar to one you will actually use in your GTA assignment. You should not plan a lesson on a hobby or a personal interest. If you are struggling with topic selection, talk with the professor.
Prepare and deliver a teaching segment using the lecture/discussion method. Use a topic you are familiar with from your own undergraduate or graduate experience. You must submit a (1) listing of the desired learning outcomes (what are the students to learn), (2) a brief outline of your lecture (key word), and (3) a copy of your assessment tool (quiz, test, assignment, etc.) before you begin your lesson. After your lecture, you will distribute, collect, and review the assessment instruments and the videotape of your lesson and prepare and submit a 3-4 paragraph email reflection statement to me within one week of receiving a dvd copy of the lecture. This reflection statement should discuss the degree to which students mastered the learning outcomes and a discussion of how you might improve your lecture based on this experience. YOU MUST DO AN ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING TO GET CREDIT FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT.

You must use an assessment instrument to get credit for this assignmentAfter the activity, you will distribute, collect, and review the assessment instruments and the videotape of the activity and submit a 3-4 paragraph email reflection of the success of the activity to me within one week of receiving a dvd copy of your mini-lesson. . Again, the critique should review evidence of student mastery of learning outcomes and a discussion of how the activity might be improved. YOU MUST DO AN ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING TO GET CREDIT FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT.
