Tuesday, September 9 - 7-9 p.m. - MUB Ballroom - Special Event - Prof John Sutherland and SFI student presentations. An emerging area of emphasis at Michigan Tech is the idea of sustainability. Prof. John Sutherland, director of Michigan Tech's Sustainable Futures Institute will provide an overview of the idea of sustainabililty. There will also be discussions with five graduate students who are focusing their work on one of the areas of sustainability. This is a mandatory attendance event.

Tuesday, September 23 - Special Event - Local SFI speakers - MUB 7-9 - This second event will allow students in the Sustainability Perspectives on Inquiry sections to interact with local people involved in sustainable enterprises and activities. Rick Loduha will lead a portion of the session demonstrating how local initiatives are leading to societal change. This, too, is a mandatory attendance event.
