University Resources for
Academic Personnel - Not on Payroll
Occasionally academic personnel, whether they may be a faculty member with an unpaid adjunct appointment, or a faculty member whose appointment has not yet begun, may have a need to use a University resource. A University resource could include: an MTU email address, access to the Library, or a Michigan Tech ID card and a parking sticker. An ID number must be set up for an academic personnel not on payroll, before any of these resources can be used by them.
Email
An email account may be set up for approved, academic personnel not on the University's payroll.
Procedure

- Determines the need for an email account to be set up for the academic personnel not on payroll.
- Sends an email message to Academic Human Resources requesting an ID number be set up. Include in the email the academic personnel's name, department, and the reason for the request.

- Verifies the academic personnel.
- Sets up an ID number.
- Emails the ID number to the requestor.

| Department Chair/School Dean's Office |
- Notes the ID number.
- Sends a request, including the ID number, to the department's systems administrator for an email account to be set up.
- Once notified of the email account, communicates the userid to the academic personnel.

Library Access
Access to the University's Library may be given to approved, academic personnel not on the University's payroll.

- Sends an email message to Academic Human Resources requesting an ID number be set up. Include in the email the academic personnel's name, department, and the reason for the request.

- Emails the ID number to the requestor.

- Notes the ID number.
- Sends an email request, including the ID number, to the Library director's office at makkonen@mtu.edu for Library access to be granted to the academic personnel.
- Once notified of the activated access, communicates this to the academic personnel.

ID Card and Parking
An MTU ID card and a parking sticker may be issued to approved, academic personnel not on the University's payroll.

- Sends an email message to Academic Human Resources requesting an ID number be set up. Include in the email the academic personnel's name, department, and the reason for the request.

- Notes the ID number.
- Sends an email message, to the Tech Express Office and copying Public Safety, with the following information:
- Name of the academic personnel
- Department
- Title/Rank
- ID Number
- When the academic personnel arrives on campus, instructs them to go to the Tech Express Office, FIRST, for their ID Card, then to Public Safety for their parking permit.
