The Department of Fine Arts offers opportunities for MTU faculty members and their families to participate actively in music, theatre, and the visual arts, and to enjoy an annual season of concerts, plays, art exhibits and workshops. MTU's high-quality programs in the arts fill an essential role both in our community's life and in educating MTU students. In addition to student-only music and theatre ensembles, Fine Arts faculty direct groups and events which bring together students, faculty, staff and community in a variety of creative activities. Auditions are required for some (not all) activities, which include three major plays each year, plus experimental and reader's theatre productions; the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra; the MTU Chamber Chorus; Echoes from Heaven Gospel Choir; and the studio arts program in watercolor and oil painting.
For information about Fine Arts activities and schedules of events, contact the Fine Arts Office (487-2067).
