9.6.9 Research Services
The Research Services Office provides the following services for all areas of the University:
- Monitors potential funding opportunities.
- Establishes and maintains contact with potential funding sources.
- Informs the University community of existing and newly-emerging funding programs.
- Overall administration of services in support of research.
- Processes all proposals and negotiates contractual agreements.
- Advises and assists investigators with:
- Identifying, selecting, and contacting potential sponsors.
- Developing and composing proposals, and when appropriate, monitoring federal acquisition regulations.
- Compliance with contractual agreements, close-out procedures and when appropriate, monitoring federal acquisitions regulations.
- Developing a budget and establishing a project account.
- Processing project modification, extension, and renewal requests.
- Processing formal proposals to comply with the University's and sponsor's requirements and regulations.
- Processing contractual agreement close-out procedures (excludes account reconcilement, final reports, etc.).
- Negotiating with funding agencies.
- Writing and negotiating subcontracts under MTU project accounts.
- Reports for the University body regarding funding received.
- Communicates federal regulations and requirements related to the general administration of research funding.
