6.1 Insurance
6.1.1 TechSelect
Michigan Tech's comprehensive benefits program, includes medical, dental/vision, life, dependent life, long-term disability, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance for employees and their families (see Eligible Benefits Chart). Michigan Tech also offers flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care.
Eligible regular employees participate in the benefits program. You are provided an opportunity annually to review your benefits package. It is your responsibility to update or change your package as desired each year during the enrollment period. In addition, you must notify the Benefits Office within 30 days of any family status changes.
Eligibility
- To be eligible for full benefits, regular employees must be full-time equivalent of .75 or greater.
- Fixed-term employees receive limited benefits (see Eligible Benefits Chart).

05/04/2011- Annual Review: The sentence "In addition, you must notify the Manager of Benefits
within 30 days of any family status changes" is now "In addition, you must notify the
Benefits Office within 30 days of any family status changes" and to reflect current
University titles and practice, MTU is now Michigan Tech and the email address for questions
is now hbwebmaster.
