The President of the University is the chief executive officer whose responsibilities include defining the duties of subordinate officers; assuring the financial viability of MTU; expanding the resource base of the entire university; responding and reporting to the Board of Control; and assuring development of effective shared governance of the institution. Responsibilities also include positioning MTU strategically in Michigan, the United States, and the world as a premier technological university; fostering continuous improvement of undergraduate education; supporting development of graduate and research programs; causing continuing development of faculty, staff, and administrators; enhancing visibility and recognition of Michigan Tech with prospective students, the general public, corporations, foundations, alumni, legislators, and other potential supporters; assuring successful recruitment of faculty, administrators, and staff; and developing a climate on campus to make Michigan Tech a great place to work and learn.
