Activity Insight™ by Digital Measures
Activity Insight™, by Digital Measures, is a web-based information management system designed to organize and build reports on our faculty's teaching, research and service activities that we have implemented. This will allow us to eliminate the need to frequently ask for details about our faculty's accomplishments. The product, Activity Insight, provides one place to keep faculty's information current. Here are the reports that will be prepared with this system:
- Faculty Vitae Update
- Promotion and/or Tenure Recommendation Report (F-10)
- Faculty Teaching Loads
- Annual faculty activity reports
- Accreditation reports
- Media surveys, such as U.S. News & World Report
- Institutional research surveys
In addition, in the future, we will be connecting this system to our web site to offer visitors profiles of our faculty. This will allow us to better publicize your accomplishments.

and enter your ISO userid and password.
To get started entering data into the system, click on "Manage Your Activities" (the button on the left-hand side), simply click on each link and complete each screen.
Information from Michigan Tech's administrative databases for the last seven years has already been loaded. Please enter any additional data by clicking on the screen name and then click on "Add a New Item."
In the future, regular scheduled down loads of data will occur once a semester (approximately the 3rd week of October and the second week of February). Depending on need, this schedule may be adjusted.
Timetable for Using Activity Insight
We will be using Activity Insight this academic year (2008-09) to generate the Faculty Vitae Update report. There are other reports also available such as the Faculty Teaching Load report, Curriculum Vitae, and others. These reports are available to start using immediately. For academic year 2009-2010 the Promotion and/or Tenure Recommendation form (F-10 Form), will be available.
Some things to remember about Activity Insight:
- We have downloaded data from administrative databases (e.g. faculty teaching loads, current rank and rank history, sponsored research proposals and awards, and data regarding academic advising).
- We will have scheduled downloads twice a year to update data. We are currently planning to download in October and February.
- Downloaded data will be "read-only" mode and if changes need to be made, please contact Ann Roth (aroth@mtu.edu), and, depending on the nature of the change, also the appropriate administrative department.
- Users can enter data to unlocked screens at any time and the data will appear on reports immediately.
- We can add different types of reports and customize them as needed.
- If a faculty member delegates input to the department coordinator, they should contact Ann Roth to change the coordinator's security so that they can manage the faculty member's data.
For questions about Activity Insight, contact Ann Roth either by email to aroth@mtu.edu or by calling 7-2794 in Academic Human Resources.
