All:

We realize that many of you have busy summer schedules so we wanted to
give you a heads-up on some important dates.

On Thursday, the Board of Control passed a budget for next year that
includes an increase in salary and wages.  Some of this is for new faculty
lines and some for salary increases for all employees.

As in the past, you will receive the worksheets for faculty and
non-union staff on July 13, and we will need you to submit these to Gina
Sayen on July 27.  *Please make a note of these important dates.

At this time, staff and non-unionized faculty (not tenure track) increases
will be given as usual based on merit, marketplace, and equity.  We
continue to negotiate with the AAUP on the merit/marketplace/equity salary
increases for tenured, and tenure track faculty.  It seems unlikely that
we will have a contract finalized in time for salary adjustments to be
implemented for AAUP-represented faculty at the start of fall semester on
August 20.  It is still possible that will happen, but we are also
attempting to negotiate an interim salary agreement as I have indicated to
you in other messages.  The worksheets you receive will be similar to
those in past years, and we ask that you process these as normal in
anticipation of a merit component to faculty salary adjustments.

If you have questions, please call Ellen Horsch at 7-1737.
