Deans and Department Chairs-

As you know, in a few weeks we have two very important recruitment programs where we need your help and full support. 

The Scholars of Excellence Program will be held on Friday March 24 with check-in beginning at 12:00 in the Rozsa Center.  This program is designed to acquaint and connect some of our premier academic scholars with faculty, staff and other students.  The top twenty percent of our accepted students have been invited to this program.  Department Coordinators within each area will be meeting with John Lehman and Beth Wagner on today to review planning for this very important day.  In addition to this involvement, I would like to invite each of you to attend lunch with these students and their guests.  The lunch will be held in the Rozsa Atrium from 12:30-2:00.  Please RSVP to Lynda Heinonen at lheinone@mtu.edu by March 20.

Following the Scholars of Excellence Program, we will be hosting Preview Day on Saturday March 25.  This is the second year of this program and we anticipate another great success this year.  The program has been designed to provide students and their parents with a comprehensive overview as well as excite them about all of the opportunities available at Michigan Tech.  Of the 157 students attending Preview Day last year, 76% had not been on campus prior to Preview Day and subsequently 85% ended up enrolling at Michigan Tech in the fall.

We have approximately 50 students and 90 guests signed up for the Scholars of Excellence Program and 150 students and approximately 300 guests for Preview Day.  We are still two weeks away from these events and we do anticipate the numbers will continue to increase.

A schedule is attached for both programs.  Please review it and let either me or John Lehman know if you have questions.  The students that will be participating in both of these events are best and brightest and it is essential that we have your support.
