New Scholarship Programs

This is a reminder that non-resident applicants for Fall Semester, 2006, admission will be considered for a scholarship from the National Scholars Program.  Scholarships ranging in value from $6,000 to $12,000 were recently awarded to 535 incoming applicants based on their high school grade point average, class rank, and ACT or SAT scores.

Beginning Fall Semester, 2006, admitted students from other states or Canada will no longer be awarded the Academic Excellence Award (AEA).  The AEA program provided students possessing a high school CGPA of 3.50 or higher or who ranked in the top 25% of their class, with a tuition rate equivalent to that of a Michigan resident.  Transfer students qualified if their CGPA was 3.00 or higher at the college or university they attended prior to transfer.

Information about Michigan Tech scholarships for incoming students can be found at the following link:  www.admin.mtu.edu/finaid/scholar_nonmich.htm.

Current or previously enrolled Michigan Tech students who qualified for the AEA and enrolled prior to Fall Semester, 2006, will continue to be covered under Board of Control Policy 9.19.  The Academic Excellence Award program is scheduled to terminate after Spring Semester, 2011.
