RE:
Executive Director of Marketing and
Communications
This is to inform you that Bonnie Gorman has been hired as Executive Director of
Marketing and Communications, effective January 1.
I believe that Bonnie is an exceptional choice and will have success. You
know that the search to fill this new position was extensive. That was
appropriate, as it is a critical post serving the entire university. Late
in the process, Bonnie expressed interest and captured the support of the
Executive Team. She will report to me in her new
capacity.
Bonnie will direct and manage Tech’s various communications functions as well as
its efforts to market effectively to strategically important
constituencies. Marketing is increasingly important as Tech competes for
students, faculty and staff, charitable gifts and research grants, and public
attention. One crucial priority is the development and implementation of
an integrated marketing plan in support of Tech’s strategic initiatives and a
comprehensive fundraising campaign. Another is serving you and all other
internal clients well in responding to your need for communications and
promotional
pieces.
Bonnie brings vision and excitement to her new position in addition to a wealth
of skills and experience. She knows Tech and most of you very well, having
been here since 1996. Bonnie has industry experience as well as successful
stints at other universities. She has developed communications and marketing
plans, publications, and outreach programs. Numerous professional awards
for developing theme publications and web sites have come her
way.
Marketing and Communications will become part of University Advancement, a new
division also including development and alumni relations. It will maintain
a close consultative relationship with Student Affairs to ensure a continued
focus on enrollment and student
life.
Call me at 7-3443 with comments or questions. And, please congratulate Bonnie as
you have the opportunity.
