7.3. Outreach/Multiethnic Programs


Definition

Outreach/Multiethnic Programs: A unit of Educational Opportunity that collaborates with academic and other University departments and external groups to promote access, retention, and graduation of minority and multiethnic students.


Policy

Departments, organizations, or individuals proposing programs or activities for minority or multiethnic students, faculty, and staff should consult the director of Educational Opportunity or the coordinator of Outreach/Multiethnic Programs in order to avoid duplication of effort and help assure project success.


Procedure

If offering a program or activity for minority or multiethnic students, faculty, and staff, do the following:

  1. Contact the Outreach/Multiethnic Programs office by telephone (7-2290), e-mail to <ythbetty@mtu.edu> or <shenkel@mtu.edu>, or memo, and indicate the proposed program name, date, time, and location.


  2. Discuss program coordination needs and expectations with the coordinator of Outreach /Multiethnic Programs or the director of Educational Opportunity.


  3. Inform the Outreach/Multiethnic Programs office of any changes in the program.
