7.1.1.2. Elderhostel Programming


Definition

Elderhostel Programming: An international non-profit organization that works with colleges and universities to host educational opportunities for people over the age of 55.


General Information

Michigan Tech is an official site for Elderhostel Programming. The University's Elderhostel site coordinator is the director of Special Academic Programs. The on-campus office responsible for coordinating MTU Elderhostel Programming is Conferences & Institutes.


Procedure

Any individual or group interested in offering or working with an Elderhostel program, do the following:

  1. Contact the director of Special Academic Programs by telephone (7-2263) to describe the proposed program and discuss if the services of C&I are required.


  2. Submit proposals to C&I, regardless of whether or not C&I is implementing the program, with the following information:


    1. Description of the program (with itinerary)


    2. Listing of desired educational and social outcomes


    3. Resumes or descriptions of qualifications of key personnel


    4. Evaluation results at the conclusion of the event
