5.1.2. Formally Addressing the Board

General Information

Any individual who wishes to address the Michigan Technological University Board of Trustees, on Board-related business, will file such intent with the Secretary of the Board ten business days prior to the posted meeting date, unless special or unusual circumstances prevent such filing. The essence of the statement will be in writing and properly signed by the individual wishing to address the Board. Oral presentations will be limited to five minutes unless previous arrangements have been made. No more than thirty minutes shall be allocated on the agenda of each regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for such presentations. To view the policy in its entirety refer to item 1.14. Procedure

To address the Board of Trustees formally during a meeting, do the following:

  1. Ten business days prior to the posted meeting date, send a written request to address the Board to the secretary of the Board.

  2. NOTE: Be sure to indicate the subject matter of the presentation and that the request is signed by the individual wishing to address the Board.

  3. The secretary of the Board will notify the presenter as to whether the request to address the Board has been approved or not.
