Chapter 4. Affirmative Programs
The University has specific procedures to follow when departments are hiring personnel to ensure no discriminatory acts are made and to offer equal opportunities to faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
The steps in the hiring process are integrated with the needs of the hiring department and the services of both the Human Resource Department and the Affirmative Programs Office. Forms that are developed to assist in the process are available in the printed MTU Hiring Guide, from Affirmative Programs' web site, and from the Affirmative Programs Office.
There are different procedures for hiring different categories of employees, such as: faculty, staff, temporary employees, part-time employees. Procedures and advice on hiring are found in the MTU Hiring Guide which is produced by the Affirmative Programs Office. A hard copy of the guide is provided to each department as it is updated. Extra copies are available by calling the Affirmative Programs Office at 7-3310. The guide is also available from the Affirmative Programs Office Web site at www.admin.mtu.edu/aao/hirebk02.pdf.
