4.6.1. Informal Complaint Appeal

Definition

Informal Appeal: A request by either party for a review of the results of a case by the appropriate vice president.


General Information

If either party are not satisfied with the results of the case, they may appeal to the appropriate vice president for a review of the case. The appropriate vice president and person(s) appealing will agree on a time line for reports. The parties may choose to settle the case upon receipt of the vice president's decision as the last step in the informal procedure.


Procedure

To file an informal complaint appeal, do the following:

  1. Review the Affirmative Programs Office conclusion and suggestion for settlement of the case.


  2. If not satisfied with the resolution, the outcome, or the process, notify the Affirmative Programs Office in writing, of a desire to file an informal appeal to the case.


  3. Agree on a time line for reports with the vice president and other parties involved.


  4. Accept the vice president's decision as the last step in the informal procedure, or file a formal request if the vice president's decision is not acceptable.
