27. University Relations

This chapter contains information dealing with the use of the different units of University Relations. The information applies to all employees of the University, but is not all inclusive. For reference purposes, this material covers more general policies and procedures; more specialized information will be covered in other publications, such as the visual standards manual. Please consult the executive director of University Relations at 7-2354, if you need interpretive or more specific information, or refer to the Web site of University Relations.

These policies, as written here, are not the complete policies as adopted by the State of Michigan, Board of Trustees, the Administration, or the federal government. Copies of relevant Board of Trustees policies in their entirety are available in the Board of Trustees Policy Manual.

University Relations is subdivided into four units: News and Information Services, Design and Publication Services, Marketing Communications, and Athletic Communications and Marketing. Policies and procedures regarding the services these units provide are outlined in the following sections.

Any communication/publication that represents or mentions the University in detail must meet overall University standards, the norms for which are set forth, in part, in the University-approved Style Manual.

In addition to a focus on a specific department, division, or unit, publications of all types must include a clear visual representation of Michigan Technological University and follow policies set by the University.
