Scope
This chapter contains information dealing with risk management and insurance. The information applies to all employees of the University, but is not all inclusive. For reference purposes, this material covers more general policies and procedures. Please consult the manager of Risk Management and Insurance at 7-2267, if you need interpretive or more specific information, or visit the Web site of Risk Management and Insurance.
General Information
These policies, as written here, are not the complete policies as adopted by the State of Michigan, Board of Trustees, the Administration, or the federal government. Copies of relevant Board of Trustees policies in their entirety are available in the Board of Trustees Policy Manual.
The primary mission of the office of Risk Management and Insurance is to minimize the adverse effects of losses due to accidents or other fortuitous events that may be inflicted upon the physical and human assets of the University. The office of Risk Management and Insurance provides the following insurance coverages: automobile, blanket crime, builder's risk, errors & omissions (wrongful acts), foreign travel, group travel accident, general liability, media and publishers liability, marine, and property.
