Individual Research: Research generated by the intellectual curiosity of its faculty, staff, and students which the University supports and recognizes. Some individual research is commonly part of ones professional development.
Principal Investigator (PI): The University employee conducting research.
University facilities are available (outside of scheduled class and laboratory hours) for individual research activities. Opportunities for externally fundable research differ from field to field, but it is the faculty or staff members responsibility to insure that whenever possible, individual research efforts lead to alternative external funding.
To use University facilities for personal investigations, do the following:
