Chapter 23. Recreational Facilities
Section 23.5. Student Development Complex
Individual and family recreational memberships are available on an annual (for the period September 1 through August 31), semester (from the first day of an academic semester until the start of the next academic semester), monthly (30 days), and weekly (7 days) basis. Daily passes are also available. Huskies Club members may be eligible for a reduction in the first-adult full year rate. Full year memberships purchased after September 30 are prorated.
Children under the age of 8 may be members only on a family membership and the adult member shall be responsible for the actions of these children as well as all sponsored guests. Children under 5 years of age need not be members; however these children must be accompanied by the parent/guardian member at all times when in the SDC. Children member rates and privileges apply only to those dependents 17 years of age and younger; those 18 and over must purchase an adult membership.
Children 8 years of age, but less than 18 years of age at the date of membership, may purchase memberships without the parent being a member. A parent or guardian must sign the membership application and is responsible for the actions of their children and sponsored guests. The first adult membership fee will apply to this membership. If more than one child is eligible for membership, the second and subsequent children will be charged the dependent membership fee. Eligible children must be from the same immediate family. Children under the age of 8 may not be added as dependents to these memberships. No reduction for Huskies Club membership is available with the 8 through 17 year old memberships.
All full-time graduate students (six or more credit hours) and undergraduate students (12 or more credit hours) with a validated Tech Express Card are SDC members. University employees may take advantage of the wellness discount and pay for membership by payroll deduction, cash, or VISA or MasterCard credit card. Payment by the general public is to be made by cash or credit card.
Recreation membership privileges apply exclusively to the SDC. The membership does not cover participation in the community programs, skating in the ice arena, or play at the Gates Tennis Center. Frisbee and soccer are permitted to be played in the multipurpose room after normal operating hours only.
Most SDC facilities are available to members during open times; however, because SDC facilities are used for physical education classes, varsity athletics, and student intramural and recreation programs, not all areas will always be available. Check the schedule of events. Members must present their ID to gain access to the SDC. A charge will be assessed for the replacement of an ID card.
Locker and towel service is available through the Central Ticket Office. Three options are available:
To become a member of the SDC, do the following:
