23.4.1. Golf Club Membership

Policy

The Portage Lake Golf Club maintains membership in the Upper Peninsula Golf Association (UPGA). This membership entitles the club to organize and host sanctioned tournaments with the publicity provided by UPGA. Also, club members may play at some participating golf courses for fees at one half price or without charge. Most courses limit play under this arrangement to three times per season.


Procedure

To become a member of the Portage Lake Golf Club, do the following:

  1. Complete a Golf Club Membership Application in person at the Pro Shop, or call 7-2641 and request an application to be mailed.


  2. Submit the application along with appropriate payment to the Golf Club Pro Shop.


    3. NOTE: Refer to the Golf Club Rate Schedule for appropriate charges, fees, and rates for services from a reservation desk attendant or refer to the Web site <http://www.aux.mtu.edu/golf/>.

  3. Receive the membership pass card and sign the card.


To purchase a membership by payroll deduction, do the following:

  1. At the time of submitting the application, request a Membership Payroll Deduction form from the pro shop attendant.


  2. Complete the payroll deduction form with the help of the attendant.


  3. The employee must sign the form.
