Chapter 21. Public Safety
Section 21.2. Parking
Registration of Vehicles: All persons must provide a current vehicle registration form issued by the State of Michigan or another state, and proof of insurance for a vehicle when it is registered with the University. A vehicle shall not be considered registered with the University unless such registration and insurance is valid and maintained.
Parking decals and permits can be obtained by faculty and staff from the Public Safety Department and by students from the office of Student Records and Registration during normal business hours, except holidays.
All persons who own and/or use motor vehicles, including any type of motorcycle or moped on campus, must register the vehicle.
All parking permits and decals must be obtained immediately after bringing the motor vehicle on campus. A vehicle is not considered registered until the registration decal is permanently affixed to the vehicle and any old decals are removed from the vehicle. It is the responsibility of the owner to see that decals or permits are legible at all times.
When relinquishing or disposing of a registered vehicle, the old decal or permit must be removed from the vehicle before a new registration is permitted.
Reproducing or defacing a permit and/or decal in any way is prohibited. Decals and permits become void when an individual leaves the University.
Only one registration decal will be issued for each vehicle. For example, when two family members are employed at the University and require different parking lot assignments, a decal will be issued for one lot and a temporary permit will be issued for the second lot. The decal and the permit must be displayed as described herein.
Faculty, staff, and students must register all vehicles used on campus as follows:
