Chapter 16. Merchandise Group
Section 16.1. Campus Store
Policy
Each academic department chair/director is to designate a department liaison who will be responsible for estimating the required number of books and supplies needed for each course. The liaison is also responsible for processing requisitions for books and supplies to the Campus Store in accordance with the following policies and procedures.
Instructors are responsible for supplying all necessary information, to order the required textbooks and supplies for each course they teach, to the department's liaison.
The Campus Store will only accept textbook requisitions that have the written approval of the department's liaison. Requisitions will not be accepted verbally, except in emergency situations.
A department ordering too many books or supplies, necessitating shipment back to the supplier, may be charged for the return shipment cost.
Campus Store personnel will make every effort to have an adequate number of books and supplies in stock and made available to students in time for the beginning of each course. The liaison will be promptly notified of any problems with an order.
During the second week of each semester, the Campus Store will send to departments, textbook requisition forms for the following semester's needs. The requisitions must be returned to the Campus Store by the date indicated on the form.
All departments, except the Campus Store and the Chemistry Supply Room, are prohibited from selling books or supplies to students. All books that are to be resold to University students and participants of University sponsored workshops, seminars, and similar events must be acquired through the Campus Store. Events where the cost of books is included in the fees are to be handled in the same manner.
Procedure
If materials are to be ordered from a foreign country other than Canada, the liaison should provide at least 20 weeks of lead time to expect on-time delivery. For materials from a Canadian source, the liaison should provide 10 weeks of lead time. Requisitions for materials from the U. S. Superintendent of Documents should be given 16 weeks of lead time.
