15.3. Tech Express Card

Definition

Tech Express Card: The official University identification card issued to all employees and students.

General Information

The Tech Express office is located in Room 100 of the Memorial Union and is where the Tech Express Card is obtained. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the regular school year and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the summer.

Features of the Tech Express Card include:

• Official University photo ID


• Access card for buildings and parking (authorized by Public Safety)


• Library card


• Meal Plan card


• Cash chip declining balance purse; used for copying, vending, laundry, and purchases at participating merchants

Policy

All University students, staff, and faculty are required to have a Tech Express ID card. Fees, as authorized by the administration, may be charged for replacement cards and other services provided through the Tech Express office. Access to images and other identification information will be governed by specific University policy. The card belongs to Michigan Technological University, it is not transferable under any condition, and should not be used by anyone else at any time.

Procedure

To obtain a Tech Express Card, do the following:

1. Staff and faculty submit the authorization received from Human Resources to the Tech Express office, located in Room 100 of the Memorial Union.



2. Receive the card from the Tech Express office within minutes.
