Chapter 13. Library
Section 13.6. Specialized Services
13.6.6.1.3. Doctoral Dissertations
Definition
Doctoral Dissertations: Submitted to a department in partial fulfillment of a doctoral degree. Two copies of the dissertation (if possible, the original plus a second copy) are required to be deposited in the Library.
Procedure
To have a dissertation deposited in the Library, do the following:
- Prior to bringing the required two copies, plus department and personal copies to the Library Binding Office, pay for the cost of binding at the Cashier's Office.
- The Cashier's Office sends copies of the receipts of payment for binding to the Library. The Library sends to the Graduate Office a receipt of acceptance for the unbound copies of the dissertations and the receipt of payment for binding.
NOTE: Before binding, the original is sent to be microfilmed. Once it is microfilmed, it is returned to the Library and all copies are bound. The bound original copy is deposited in the Archives; a copy is placed in the stacks for circulation. The remainder of the bound copies are returned to the department and student. The microfilmed copy is added to the Library collection and placed in the microforms area.
