Chapter 13. Library
General Information
Library patrons obtain and use materials by going to the location and serving themselves. To do this easily, a system of notation or classification is used. This system is the Library of Congress Classification system; commonly referred to as "call numbers." Books are shelved by Library of Congress Call Numbers in all collections except Government Documents, which uses SuDocs Call Numbers. To find a book, a patron needs to know its Call Number and its location ("location" is the collection in which a book is shelved); Voyager (an on-line public catalog) gives this information.
The most common locations are:
| Call numbers A - P | Third Floor |
| Call numbers Q - Z | Second Floor |
| Call numbers A - P | Third Floor |
| Call numbers Q - Z | Second Floor |
