10.2.2. System Modification

In general, the University will adapt business practices to fit within the capabilities provided by the system software. System modifications may be necessary under certain conditions (such as: to meet state reporting or special tax requirements). System modification will only be made under the following conditions:

1. To meet State or federal regulations.



2. System modifications that provide Michigan Tech a competitive advantage will be considered providing the following conditions can be met:



1. the benefits will exceed the initial and ongoing cost to support the modifications and,



2. the necessary resources to make and maintain the modifications are secured prior to system modifications.

To request a system modification, do the following:

1. Contact the unit’s functional leader and describe and discuss the feasibility of the system change with the leader.


NOTE: If the functional leader deems the modification appropriate, the functional leader will contact the technical leader and request the modification.
