Chapter 10. Information Technology
Telecommunication Services (Telcom): A unit of the department of Information Technology (IT) which provides phone and network technologies to the campus, and customer assistance for requests and repair of those services.
Telecommunications Engineering: A unit of the department of Information Technology (IT) which is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of the University's telecommunications infrastructure. This infrastructure is used to provide telephone, data networking, and video services to all University members.
Meet-Me Telephone Conferencing: A service provided through Ameritech which allows conference calls of up to 26 people connected together. Callers enter the conference via a local number or remote callers dialing a 800 number. The service can be used by anyone but must be scheduled in advance.
A conference administrator must be designated and control the call. Telcom can act as the conference administrator for the call or the requestor may do it. Telcom has information on rules and how to conduct the call for those that need the information. Refer to Web site <http://www.tc.mtu.edu/cs/admin/teleconf.html> for more information.
