10.5.5. Videoconferencing


General Information

The video conference facility is located in Electrical Energy Resources Center (EERC), room B11 and accommodates both group meetings and desktop videoconferencing. The operator's console provides touch screen interfacing into the global Sprint network over a T1 connection or PictureTel conferencing via ISDN and the Internet. The system also integrates with the local K-12 fiber distance learning network to eleven local school sites.


Policy

Users will be charged one-hour's video conference fee for any conference which is rescheduled or canceled less than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled conference.

Unless stipulated in an approved University contract, ETS will interaccount bill the requesting department after the videoconference.


Procedure

To request videoconferencing, do the following:

  1. Call the coordinator for videoconference at 7-3026 or e-mail <videocon@mtu.edu>, and submit the request with the following information:


    1. name, e-mail address, and phone number


    2. date, time, length, title of conference


    3. contact names and phone numbers for each remote site(s)


    4. number of people expected to attend at each site


    5. a valid University index number to be charged for the Videoconferencing or billing address


    6. special needs such as videotaping, graphics/multimedia, room layout


    NOTE: Receive a confirmation from the coordinator for video conference.
