10.5.4.1. Satellite Downlink Services
General Information
The primary function of the satellite downlinks and video distribution system on campus is to provide faculty, staff, and students with educational opportunities and research that would otherwise be unavailable to them.
This service, is available to the University under all of the following conditions and is subject to the following policies:
- The delivery of these services will be dependent upon the availability of the required equipment and qualified personnel to operate it.
- Instructors, advisers, and individuals take the responsibility to insure that the rooms and equipment used for viewing video programs are properly supervised. Damage to equipment will be charged to the group or department.
Policy
The reception of Ku or C Band live video programs will be made available to groups in the following order of priority:
- Academic classes and research programs
- Scheduled teleconferences which have been planned and advertised
- Faculty development programs planned by a faculty group designated for this purpose
- University-recognized student groups
- Other University groups
Procedure
To request Satellite Downlink services, do the following:
- One week prior to the scheduled broadcast date, submit a written request to ETS. Include a valid University index number.
NOTE: Receive for approval prior to proceeding, a written cost estimate from ETS. Once the cost estimate is approved, ETS will enter the request into the downlink database for recording and projection. ETS will provide facilities if there is availability.
All notices of cancellation of an event must be given at least one working day in advance of the scheduled event or a minimum of a one-hour set-up fee will be charged.
