10.5.4. Satellite Uplink Services

The primary function of the Satellite Uplink is to provide courses, both credit and non-credit, offered by Michigan Technological University, National Technological University, and others to practicing engineers, scientist and technical professionals.

The Uplink is owned by Michigan Tech and operated by Information Technology and is available under the following conditions and is subject to the following policies.

The delivery of these services will be dependent upon the availability of qualified IT personnel to operate the equipment.

Use of the Uplink shall be made available in the following order of priority:

• The transmission of credit and non-credit courses offered by Michigan Tech through National Technological University (NTU)



• The transmission of credit and non-credit courses offered through NTU by others at the request of NTU



• Other Michigan Tech transmission requests



• The transmission of third party traffic as requested by others outside the University provided the request is deemed acceptable by ETS to the University and does not violate provisions of Michigan Tech's FCC License as a Private Carrier



• The use of the Uplink as a downlink when such use does not conflict with an uplink request.


Procedure


To request the use of the Uplink for a telecourse, do the following:

1. Send a request to ETS by e-mail, in writing, or telephone by calling 7-2299. Include a valid University index number.




Terms of Cancellation shall apply to all confirmed requests.
