10.4. Distributed Computing Services

Distributed Computing Services (DCS): A unit of the department of Information Technology (IT) that provides software and services and network applications to the campus. Main activities include: campus-wide e-mail management; software client research; technical management of the University’s main Web site <www.mtu.edu>; network application deployment and research; campus-wide software coordination and contract management; WebCT course management service.

System Administrator: The computing support personnel who serves a department by communicating between units (department, school, college, or consortium) and Information Technology related to maintenance and support of networks and hardware.
