14. The North Central Association CriteriaCriterion Four: Strengthen Educational Effectiveness Michigan Tech meets Criterion Four. The resource base and its organization is discussed in Chapters Ten-Twelve. As with any University, there are challenges that must be addressed, but the University has an established academic planning process that links the academic goals with financial planning through the umbrella of an over-all strategic plan. Michigan Tech meets Criterion Five. The team found the SWOT analysis at the end of each chapter of the self-study to be very accurate and high testimony to the integrity of Michigan Tech. The University's publications were found to be accurate reflections of the programs actually offered. The team reviewed two written third-party comments that were submitted to the North Central Association. One was from an alumnus, and the team could discover no firm basis in fact to justify the alumnus' concerns. The other was from a faculty member, whose issue was properly within his department's jurisdiction for resolution. Appendix Three of the Self-study Report contains Michigan Tech's response to the Federal Compliance Requirements. During its visit, the team verified the accuracy of this appendix by examining the relevant documents in the Resource Room.
