Michigan Tech has been accredited for another ten years. The University has received formal notice that the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (NCA) voted to continue MTU's accreditation for another ten years. The next comprehensive evaluation is set for 2007-08. "Many people worked long and hard on this effort and it shows," Provost Fred Dobney said. "I really appreciate the broad-based participation of the University community in securing this favorable result. Clearly, shared governance and shared responsibility have created a well-informed University citizenry capable of reflective analysis about the University's strengths and weaknesses. President Curt Tompkins and I want to thank each of you who contributed to this process." As part of its continued accreditation, MTU will submit reports over the next few years on developing a regular review of academic programs, general education and assessment, distance education, and library resources. The University has been continuously accredited since 1928, according to NCA.
