Graduate Council
Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: Oversee graduate programs, formulate procedures, and advise the Graduate Dean and University on graduate educational policies.
Membership: One faculty representative from each department with a graduate program and a representative from the University Senate.


Housing Appeal Board
Reports to: Vice Provost for Student Affairs
Charge: Review student appeals for release from their housing contracts.
Membership: Executive Director of Enrollment Management and the Director of Residential Services.


Human Subjects - Internal Review Board
Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: Review, approve the initiation of, and conduct continuing review of research involving human subjects in accordance with Food and Drug Administration regulations.
Membership: Faculty and staff representative, research services manager, and an attorney.


Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (Animal Subjects)
Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: Review, approve the initiation of, and conduct continuing review of research and teaching activities involving animal subjects in accordance with Food and Drug Administration regulations.
Membership: Faculty and staff representative and a veterinarian.

Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: Evaluate invention disclosures and make recommendations for patent action.
Membership: Administrative staff, research staff, faculty, and an attorney.


Katherine M. Bosch Fund Program Committee
Reports to: Executive Vice President and Provost
Charge: Recommend program priorities for support by the Katherine M. Bosch Fund.
Membership: Faculty and staff member and a representative from the K. M. Bosch Foundation.


Non-Departmental Studies Committee
Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: Review the Ph.D. in Engineering programs with the aim of providing guidance to strengthen the programs.
Membership: Engineering Dean and faculty representatives.


Presidential Commission for Diversity
Reports to: President
Charge: Help implement, in close cooperation with appropriate MTU offices, activities and programs to improve the environment for increasing diversity on campus.
Membership: Faculty, staff, student, and community representatives.

Charge: Improve the environment for women on campus.
Membership: Representatives from faculty, staff, and students.


Presidential Committee on University Safety and Environmental Health
Reports to: President
Charge: Facilitate compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other safety and environmental regulations.
Membership: Faculty and staff representatives appointed by the President and Executive Vice President and Provost.


Radiation Safety Committee
Reports to: Executive Vice President and Provost
Charge: Monitor compliance with NRC guidelines governing radiation safety.
Membership: Faculty appointed by the Manager, Occupational Safety and Health.


Research Advisory Council
Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: Advise the Vice Provost on matters related to research.
Membership: College/School Deans, research personnel, and staff.

Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: To develop a policy/procedure to award the Research Award.
Membership: Three most recent winners of award.


Safety Committee
Reports to: Manager, Occupational Safety and Health
Charge: Facilitate education about and enforcement of safety guidelines.
Membership: Faculty and staff representatives appointed by the Manager, Occupational Safety and Health.


Scientific Misconduct Inquiry Committee
Reports to: Vice Provost for Research/Dean, Graduate School
Charge: Determine whether or not there may be substance to the allegations warranting an investigation.
Membership: Representatives appointed by the University Senate.


Staff Council
Reports to: President
Charge: Advisory Council to the President.
Membership: Representatives selected through staff elections.


Substance Abuse Advisory Committee
Reports to: Counseling Services
Charge:
  1. Promote alcohol and other drugs awareness education programs on campus.
  2. Develop possible means of intervening and lessening serious alcohol abuse.
  3. Coordinate alcohol and other drugs programming on campus.
  4. Promote group interaction regarding this area.
Membership: Faculty, staff, students, and community representatives.
