13.13. Complimentary Tickets

The merit of complimentary tickets is recognized both in terms of University public relations and in terms of compliance with various league rules regarding availability of tickets to coaches and players.

Admission passes for workers at athletic events should not be considered as complimentary tickets.

University public relations objectives, being external in nature, would preclude the issuance of passes to University employees for purposes of internal politics.

Charges for complimentary tickets and memberships should accrue to an appropriate account or accounts in order to reasonably reflect operating costs of the unit involved. Examples: Complimentary hockey tickets issued to coaches and players would be a direct charge to the hockey program; complimentary tickets issued to the Placement Director for use by recruiters would be a direct charge to the Placement account; compensation in kind (CIK) memberships for coaches at the golf course would be a direct charge to the Athletic program.

To the extent that the traditional complimentary ticket and membership structure for the Physical Education faculty is followed, such season tickets and memberships provided to the faculty shall be charged against the Physical Education Department budget, and such season tickets, memberships, and admissions shall be considered compensation-in-kind.
