International transfer students should work with the office of International Programs and Services to complete their application.
General Education Guidelines for Transfer Students
Michigan Tech's graduation requirements include 28 credits of General Education coursework. As part of the requirements, 9 of the 28 credits must be upper division (junior and senior level) credit hours. In addition, there are 4 classes that all Michigan Tech students are required to complete. Transfer credits may satisfy these requirements as follows:
| Michigan Tech Class | Transfer Class |
| UN 1001 Perspectives on Inquiry | English Composition I |
| UN 2001 Revisions | English Composition II |
| UN 1002 World Cultures | A cultural diversity course. Some examples are: Antropology, World History, Cultural Diversity, and Western Civilization. |
| UN 2002 Institutions | A course on human social, political, and economic institutions. Some examples are: Micro and Macro Economics, Government, and Introduction to Sociology. |
| A number of Michigan Tech degrees may include an additional, specific class as part of the General Education requirements. Please check the degree requirements for your program to see if there is a required class. (Bachelor's Degrees.) | |
Transfer Guides
The transfer guides are designed to provide you with an outline of classes that can be taken at a variety of 2-year community colleges. It is not required that students complete all of the classes listed on the guide before enrolling at Michigan Tech. In addition, the information on the guides reflects only the classes that have been evaluated to date from the respective schools. It is possible that other classes will transfer. Students may contact the Admissions Office at 1-888-MTU-1885 if there are any questions.
