Prohibited Items

The Departmental Credit Card is intended for single items $4,999.99 or less including shipping with the following exceptions:

• Alcoholic beverages and tobacco
• Animals - Live mammals
• Cash advances
• Cell phone services
• Charter buses, plane or boat
• Chemicals (Laboratory & Research)
• Clothing, except for required uniforms or other work related clothing
• Controlled Substances
• Cylinder gases and liquid nitrogen (Propane is permitted)
• Donations to charitable organizations
• Flowers (by permission only)
• Food, Meals, Hospitality and Entertainment
• Gasoline for personal vehicles
• Gifts (Presentation awards, plaques-are permitted)
• Hazardous Materials
• Leases & Rentals of Real Estate
• Memberships in civic, community, and social organizations are prohibited. Professional memberships are permitted.
• Maintenance Agreements
• MTU standard letterhead, business cards & envelopes
• Personal items (any item(s) that are intended to be used or consumed by University Employees on or off campus for other than university use are prohibited)
• Purchase involving trade of tagged University property > $4999.99
• Renovations, Remodeling, Installations, or Repairs on campus
• Sales tax.
